There are two different ways that search results pages can be designed. The first way is to display your search results in a list, and the other is to display them in a grid format.
Our team of experts suggests displaying your search results in a grid formation instead of a list as the default setting. Why? Because it allows you to display more products above the fold, and reduce customer scrolling. A list, on the other hand, shows less products on the page at once, and requires your customers to scroll down more often to display more products.
However, each customer will have personal preference as to how they would like their search results displayed. That’s why we also suggest a toggle button at the top of your results that allows your customers to decide which view they prefer.
By adopting these two techniques, you can reduce customer frustration and keep them on your site, while simultaneously giving those who prefer more control over their results the ability to choose. Remember, a happy customer has a higher chance of returning to your site to buy again, while a flustered customer will likely leave and never come back.
