Nextopia proudly works with a network of talented and trusted partners. We’re excited to be spotlighting 5874!
We got a chance to interview Rupert Cross, Digital Director at 5874. Read on to learn more about this Birmingham, UK-based full-service marketing agency!
1. Tell us a bit about 5874
5874 began in 2012, co-founded by my brother Richard and me. We’re a full-service marketing agency based in the heart of the creative quarter in Birmingham, UK. We predominantly work with eCommerce and property clients, including the likes of Loacker and Aviva Investors.
2. What kinds of projects, industries, and platforms do you usually work on?
For the eCommerce side of the business, we’re virtually exclusively BigCommerce but we always aim to find the right solution for the client and not the other way around. We also work with a variety of different industries and have clients worldwide. From fashion with Yumi to food with Carluccio’s – we’re open to new projects, whatever industry they’re in.
3. Why do you think search, navigation, and recommendations are important? What are the main challenges your clients face with these?
You’ll have done the hard work and got the customer to visit your site, so the last thing you want to do is to ruin it with an average search or navigation. The user experience and journey are the most important aspects of any website. The hard part is always making sure that process is exactly right and tailored to each client and their average consumer.
4. Does 5874 have any exciting news coming up that you can tell us about?
We’re always working on something exciting! We like to keep busy. We’ll be launching 5 enterprise BigCommerce stores in September, so that will be a big achievement for the team.
5. Which third party extensions do you recommend key for eCommerce sites?
Well apart from Nextopia…Hotjar or Lucky Orange can be great tools. Seeing videos of how people interact with a site is crucial to making development decisions.
6. What’s 5874’s favorite motto?
A website is never finished. It should be continuously evolving to help better serve its users.
7. Tell us an interesting fact about the 5874 team!
After working at 5874 for 5 years, you get a 4-week sabbatical. Our digital designer Lucy has hers coming up this year and is travelling around Scotland with her boyfriend, Liam & their new pup Nugget. Designer Emily has hers next year but hasn’t shared where she’s going yet – where would you go with yours?!?
