If one thing’s for certain, it’s that Americans are more connected to their mobile devices than ever before.
Because of this, the eCommerce industry has begun catering to mobile shoppers and in turn, the mobile commerce (mCommerce) industry has completely revolutionized the way consumers shop.
Currently, 64% of American adults use their smartphones to access the internet, so it comes as no surprise that major retailers from around the world are cashing in on the one-touch shopping craze and revamping their online stores to be optimized for mobile shoppers.
In 2015, mCommerce sales counted for 30% of all U.S. eCommerce sales, and these numbers are only projected to increase over time and by 2017, it’s predicted that mCommerce will grow by 31% while eCommerce will only grow by 15%.
When it comes to online shopping, consumers will not only save time by using their mobile devices to shop, but they can also use their devices to compare prices and product reviews while in traditional stores.
Because of the sheer convenience of mobile shopping, 59% of American millennials say that mobile shopping is the main advantage of owning a smartphone, and 50% of millennials use their smartphones to research products or services while shopping.
Our infographic below takes a look at the mobile shopping habits of American consumers and reflects that the future of mCommerce is very bright. So if you’re an online retailer who has yet to jump on the mCommerce train, there’s no better time than now.
