IRCE 2016 Highlights

Celebrating its 12th year, IRCE 2016 is the flagship event of the eCommerce industry, held in Chicago. As a Silver Sponsor, the Nextopia team was excited to join leaders from every segment of the retail industry to showcase top eCommerce trends.

Hosted at McCormick Place, the Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition ran from June 7th to June 10th. Showcasing speakers, expert advice, and the latest industry knowledge, Nextopia had the opportunity to showcase its leading Search-Driven Conversion Platform.

Throughout the expansive exhibition hall, Nextopia made it easy to be found by eCommerce retailers, by hosting three booths. We even dedicated one of our booths to launching our Social Commerce Platform, Evocative!

Ringing true to the foundation of our Search-Driven Conversion Platform, our CEO, Sanjay Arora said it best – “if you can’t find it, you can’t buy it!”

Day 1: Tuesday, June 7th

After breakfast, a lot of water, and a few coffees at the airport, the team hopped on an early flight out of Toronto, and touched down in Chicago just before eleven in the morning. Tasked with setting up our booths, our team got to work setting up furniture, displays, and Canadian maple syrup for our clients, partners, and booth visitors. With three booths, the team kept busy to get ready for the show’s late afternoon start.

The Nextopia team was eager to greet everyone at our three booths, located at various points across the expansive 250,000 square-foot exhibitor floor. The opening reception marked the first opportunity to chat with retailers, partners, and clients, all eager to discuss the changing eCommerce landscape.

After the opening reception came to a close, the Nextopia team packed up, had a quick team huddle, and headed to the various after parties that were hosted on the first night.

Day 2: Wednesday, June 8th

Wednesday marked the first full day of IRCE 2016. Our team got up bright and early to host our annual Client Appreciation Breakfast. With everything from breakfast burritos, to bagels and muffins, the catering team at McCormick Place made sure that no one left on an empty stomach. The breakfast gave the team a great opportunity to sit down and catch up with current clients, put some faces to names, and learn more about various eCommerce industries.

After breakfast, we hit the floor at 9am, in our matching green shirts. Nextopia proudly showcased our leading Search-Driven Conversion Platform to both vendors and visitors alike. Our visitors were thrilled to pick up a Nextopia mug or a bottle of Canadian maple syrup, while they were at our booths.

Before our team parted ways to attend the various after parties that were being hosted on the second night, our team ended the first full day by getting everyone together for a team photo. All decked out in our green shirts, of course!

Day 3: Thursday, June 9th

Thursday marked the last day for exhibitors at IRCE 2016. Once again, our team was up, and ready to go early in the morning to host our annual Partner Appreciation Breakfast. Even early in the morning, the room was filled with chatter and laughter as we connected with our partners over breakfast sandwiches and lots of coffee!

Our team came ready to hit the floor and had a great time meeting with clients, vendors, and partners. The second full exhibiting day, also marked the day that many of the raffles and prize winners were being announced. The Nextopia team had pockets full of horseshoes, as our very own Erica won the iPad Pro from Bold Commerce, and our Graphic Designer Eman won the bicycle from Customer Direct!

The day flew by, and soon enough the team was packing up and tearing down our booths – in a company best of 8 minutes! After a full day, we headed to the airport to catch our evening flight back home to Toronto.

One of the most exciting trends we saw at IRCE was seeing how retailers can use Artificial Intelligence to enhance the omnichannel experience as well as provide personalized interactions with their shoppers.

A special mention goes out to all of our clients and partners who took 10-minutes of their time at IRCE to share their story about working with Nextopia! Big thank you to the organizers of IRCE 2016 and all of the fellow exhibitors and clients who made Chicago and IRCE such an amazing experience!

Our team really enjoyed using the IRCE app which made it easy to connect with like-minded eCommerce experts across the conference and exhibition. It was great to be able to connect with other exhibitors and attendees before and during the event.
